Last week, a blogger in Seattle was told she could not ask questions during a press conference because she was not part of a media organization that provides "unbiased coverage and subscribe to journalistic ethics." That created a local firestorm - other bloggers spread the word on Twitter, and the media policy (by the local school district) was reversed. I think it's fascinating to see how traditional media is slowly shifting its opinion on citizen journalism. I personally know many professional reporters who look down on bloggers, and I don't agree with that. Even though bloggers might not have the professional papers and official expertise, many of them still have the same goal as journalists: provide information, and educate the public, in a good ethical and trusted setting.I read about this on LostRemote, a great source on articles about social media & the news.
