So I was trying to find some universities that offer social media courses or majors...when I stumbled upon a website from a social media university! Yes, apparently there is such a thing. It's called 'SMUG,' which stands for 'Social Media University Global.' I first thought it was a joke, but it seems to be pretty authentic. The university offers majors/minors in:general Social Media, Blogging, Podcasting, Social Networking and Widgets, as well as platform-specific classes for Facebook, Flickr, Twitter, YouTube and others. SMUG was founded in January 2008. But it's not a typical university. Students don't need to prove test scores, fill out forms, or pay tuition. Still, they get: " hands-on, real-world experience in social media…with no student loans to repay.”I'm going to have to find out more about this! Stay tuned.
